Who We Are
Elevate Her is a grassroots, women-led Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) based in Kenya, rooted in the principles of the UNCRPD and dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights of women and girls with disabilities and the caregivers who support children with disabilities in rural and urban marginalized communities. Through gender justice, community-driven advocacy, and collective power, we work to dismantle the intersecting barriers of inequality and ableism that deny women and girls with disabilities their full rights, dignity, and participation in society.
Our Mission
Our Vision

Join us in creating inclusive impact by advancing the rights, dignity, empowerment, and equal opportunities of women and girls with disabilities in every community.
Our Programs
At Elevate Her, our programs are rooted in intersectionality, community engagement, and the belief that women and girls with disabilities deserve to live with dignity, autonomy, and equal opportunity. We work across five core thematic areas:
Gender Justice
Inclusive Climate and Environmental Justice
Inclusive Civic Engagement: Women and Girls with Disabilities
Lobbying and Advocacy
Our SDG Alignment
Gender Equality
Elevate Her’s work in the Oxfam Women Right’s Fund(WRF), women win Onside fund advances SDG 5 by empowering women and girls with disabilities to lead, strengthening their leadership capacity, access to justice, and meaningful participation in political, civic, and public life, and working to end the discrimination and barriers that limit their equality and economic participation.
Reduced Inequalities
Elevate Her’s mission is built on SDG 10: reducing inequality within and among countries. We advance this through interventions such as Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) trainings, legal aid clinics, and medical and disability assessments.
Sustainable Cities and Communities
Elevate Her’s work is rooted in Kenya’s informal settlements, Kawangware, Kibera, Mukuru, Mathare, Githurai, and Baba Dogo, where Sustainable Development Goal 11, making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable, is not an abstract target but a daily reality.
Climate Action
Elevate Her’s work through the Funding Fairer Futures project is a direct contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 13: taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, grounded in the understanding that climate action is incomplete if it leaves behind women and girls with disabilities and caregivers of children with disabilities.
Partnerships for the Goals
Elevate Her’s advancement of SDG 17 is only possible because of the partners who walk this journey with us. We are deeply grateful for:
Our government partners: the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), for championing disability inclusion at the national level; the State Department for Children Services (SDCS), for strengthening child protection systems; the State Department for Gender Affairs and Affirmative Action (SDGAAA), for advancing gender equity policy; the Nairobi City County Government (NCCG), for enabling grassroots impact; and the sub-counties of Kibra, Kangundo, and Githurai, for their on-the-ground partnership in our communities.
Our development partners: the Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) and FIDA-Kenya, for their solidarity in advancing rights-based, gender-transformative work.
Our network: the Kibera Gender Advocacy Network (KGAN), whose collective voice against Gender-Based Violence has made Elevate Her’s work stronger and more sustained.
Together, these partnerships are the foundation of the change we are building for women and girls with disabilities.

Grounded in the UNCRPD
Elevate Her is a women-led Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) rooted in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), and this framework shapes every aspect of our work. We champion Article 6, which recognizes that women and girls with disabilities face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, through our Women’s Rights Fund(redirect to Oxfam in our website) and Women Win(redirect to women win in website) gender justice programs, Funding Fairer Futures’ climate justice project(redirect to FFF in website), and civic engagement programming. Our access-to-justice work, including caregiver legal aid support and advocacy tied to Kenya’s Disability Act 2025, advances Article 13’s call for effective access to justice on an equal basis with others.
Through our Inclusive Civic Engagement work, political representation programming, community advocacy and accountability, voter education and civic literacy, and youth leadership pipelines, we advance Article 29’s mandate for the full and effective participation of persons with disabilities in political and public life. Our SRHR programming reflects Article 25’s right to health, and our disability-inclusive climate response work embodies Article 11’s call for the protection and safety of persons with disabilities in situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. By anchoring our programs, partnerships, and advocacy in the UNCRPD, Elevate Her ensures that the rights of women and girls with disabilities are not an afterthought, but the foundation of every intervention we design.
